Anacapa Island is actually made up of three small islets. So appropriately named East, Middle and West. Anacapa is the closest of all the Channel Islands to the mainland. Only 12 miles from Ventura Harbor.
Getting there takes just over an hour and the diving is spectacular. Anacapa is home to bat rays, giant sea bass, eel grass, a plethora of nudis and a sea lion rookery. There's even the wreck (well....debris field) of the SS Winfield Scott.
Some of our favorite sites on the island are Channels, Landing Cove and Underwater Island. Diving Anacapa is great for anyone looking for a relaxing day of diving. Especially you shutterbugs.
Other than diving, Anacapa offers visitors the opportunity for hiking, camping and kayaking. The national park services has a visitor's center on the east island and the historic lighthouse still operates there.
